Climate Action Wansbeck was formed after running stalls a few times in The Farmer's Market, Morpeth. The stalls gave us opportunities to engage with the public on environmental and green issues: and to have activities that included plant swaps, 'grow your own' and cycling demonstrations.

A community orchard was created on the Wansbeck Road Allotments site Ashington during 2025. The orchard was supported by a numbers of funders including Ashington Town Council and Climate Action Wansbeck and allotments holders volunteering to clear and develop the site. The fruit trees were provided by Northumberland CC. It was officially opened by Ashington Civic Head Pauline Thompson.
Members of Climate Action Wansbeck were invited to hold a stall at the EcoFair in Hirst Park in April 2025. We focused on food security, saving money and preventing food waste and demonstrated making Yorkshire puddings and muffins in an air fryer, and served fruit and vegetable smoothies. In the photo are Lynn Norris and Pat Fuller, two of CAW members.
Climate Action Wansbeck's Eco Fair took place in the Market Place, Morpeth during Big Green Week 2022. There were 18 stall holders including those selling eco products from coffee, candles, cookies and soap products: as well as giving talks, a radio station, children's printmaking and a Friends of the Earth stall.
Climate Action Wansbeck members attended an event in August 2022 which observed the endangered endemic White Clawed crayfish in their natural environment, the river Wansbeck. These native crayfish are under threat from an invasive species, the American Signal crayfish and therefore some White Clawed have been moved to a protected 'ark' at nearby Wallington Hall.
Participants had the opportunity to inspect the crayfish at close quarters and hear how the problem of the invasive American Signal crayfish is trying to be controlled. The field trip was conducted with a representative from the local council who has a licence to handle this species.
